Take a Flodden Battlefield walk through history
18/09/2009

Take a Flodden Battlefield walk through history Archaeological field-walking as part of the Flodden 500 project will begin at 12 noon on Monday September 21 with training from Rob Young of English Heritage. And given decent conditions it is hoped to continue field-walking on Tuesday 22nd starting at 9.30am.
Flodden 500 is the over-arching project which aims to support the many and disparate programmes and activities that are working towards the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Flodden (September 9, 1513)
The project is currently being driven forward by an Initiators Group that includes representatives from the Ford and Etal Estates (land owners of the battlefield), Glendale Gateway Trust, Northumberland County Council, Northumberland National Park and the community at Branxton.
If you wish to attend it is important to first register by email through the following website: www.iflodden.info/
Weather conditions are unpredictable so take warm clothes, hat, wellies or walking boots and sun-tan cream. Also food and flask as there will be no facilities on site!
Parking is at the Bondager’s Cottages on the north side of Flodden Hill (as per the excavations) where the group will meet up.
